2020 has been quite a year thus far. Despite everything going on, companies have not stopped releasing new energy drink flavors. I’ve compiled a list below of some of the new energy drinks introduced thus far in 2020.
Drink Releases
Coca-Cola Energy (four flavors) - January 2020
Red Bull The Summer Edition Watermelon - Late April 2020
Tenzing Blackberry & Acaí - May 2020
Java Monster 300 - March 2020
Coca-Cola Energy:
Coca-Cola, arguably the most well known man made beverage in the world releasing versions with more caffeine. It just makes sense, and it’s honestly surprising that they didn't do this years ago. Coca-Cola is hitting the ground running with the introduction of four different flavors: Energy, Energy Zero Sugar, Energy Cherry, and Energy Cherry Zero Sugar. I haven’t reviewed any of them but I have tried Coca-Cola Energy. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I can tell you it tastes exactly the same as a typical Coke. I totally understand Coca-Cola going with the “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” approach. Regardless of how late to the party Coca-Cola is, it certainly seems like a good move.

Red Bull The Summer Edition Watermelon:
Red Bull is not afraid to tweak their portfolio. The “Summer Edition” flavor for 2020 is Watermelon. It is a limited edition, so if you’re interested, make sure to try it before the summer is up. I did and you can find my full review here. Red Bull is trying to make refreshing energy drinks happen. I think it’s a good idea, and would love to see more companies create products for the summer (or another specific season). Several energy drink brands have shown that they are not afraid to put out some bold flavors (looking at you, Bang). I’m not fully convinced that Red Bull executed, but you’ll have to read the full review.

Tenzing Blackberry & Acaí:
This is for the European energy drink lovers. Tenzing, a health focused energy drink company, only sells their product in several western European countries. Blackberry & Acaí is their first drink to contain branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) derived from natural sources, making it a vegan product. Blackberry & Acaí joins Tenzing’s other two flavors in the lineup, Original and Raspberry & Yuzu.

Java Monster 300:
Monster doesn’t back down. It has expanded it’s Java Monster line considerably, and that continues with Java Monster 300. Clearly the ~200mg of caffeine in its other coffee inspired drinks wasn’t enough. This drink, boldly labeled “Triple Shot” and “300” has 300mg of caffeine in it. Duh. Monster wants you to know that this drink isn’t for the faint of heart and makes it very clear in typical Monster fashion. Java Monster 300 comes in two flavors, Mocha and French Vanilla.
