Introduction

I'll be honest, not the most excited I've ever been to try a new drink. My Caffeine Shark counterpart, Cameron, reviewed Rip It Tribute [Active Mandarin] Wild Lime recently and gave it a 3.9... awkward. Other Rip Its I've had have been hit or miss - but mostly miss. They have a ton of sugar and usually don't have great taste, but I'll give this one benefit of the doubt. Let's get into it.

Taste

5.2

The bar was low and I'm happy to report that it exceeded my expectations. It has the characteristic sweet, syrupy aftertaste (probably a result of the 50+ grams of sugar) but I actually enjoy the bitter, lime flavor that comes through. With it being this bitter, I don't know where the sugar is going.

Appearance

3.5

Cameron thinks the can is amazing. While I can appreciate Rip It's message and targeted advertising to the troops, they're really not doing anything special. It's a camo can with a low-effort soldier at the bottom middle. It screams tacky and try-hard to me.

Kick

4.5

I drank most of the drink before going on a mile run around my humble abode, and I felt a bit of a kick instantly. Nothing crazy. 160mg of caffeine.

Conclusion

For 99 cents, the bar is a bit lower. That might be the saving grace of this Rip It since I'd say it's slightly above average in taste and below average with the kick. Be prepared for a bitter lime taste with a syrupy aftertaste, and you might just enjoy it.
