Introduction
Not your typical energy drink for today’s review. Mountain Dew Kickstart Black Cherry is on the dockett, which for me is the perfect road trip pick-me-up when you’re trying to avoid the jitters or the inevitable caffeine crash.
Taste

Just like the Monster Zero Ultra line is the same, repeatable recipe with different flavors; Mountain Dew Kickstart Black Cherry is really just Mountain Dew with cherry flavor. Which makes the taste pretty simple - if you like Mountain Dew and cherry, you’ll like this. I do happen to enjoy both, which is why I’m bequeathing a generous 8.75.
Appearance

4 for appearance since it’s nothing special. I do like the clean lines and black & red color scheme, but it’s not going to move the needle. Pours out dark red with low-medium carbonation.
Kick

92mg of caffeine isn’t enough to blow you away, but like I said in the introduction - the niche for Mountain Dew kickstart is a coffee/tea substitute when you’re feeling a cold, soda or energy drink like beverage. Don’t expect this to replace your Bang or Quake, and you’ll be fine.
Conclusion
Great tasting drink with a low caffeine content, so appreciate it for what it is. And please tell me I’m not the only one who enjoys a cold, refreshing Kickstart on road trips.
